Myspace Comments
Sharing your thoughts
On MySpace, comments are a way for getting feedback and not surprisingly, people love comments, as I do. But you can always get rid of any comment that does not suit you. Friends usualy send a comment back on MySpace. Usually if you send someone a comment on MySpace, they will send one back to you. You can also ask for comments from each other in other social settings or on the bulletin boards. In MySpace, comments are a form of cultural currency.
If you just so happen to be seeking attention on MySpace, writing comments and being visible on popular people's pages is very important and this can be a motivation to comment on others' profiles. Of course, again, profile owners can get rid of the comments they dont like.
MySpace's scope of services and member traffic rivals that of many major portals. Since launching, MySpace, now owned by News Corp., has added e-mail, instant messaging and blog services, as well as jobs, video, book and music stores.
Bands
MySpace caters to bands by creating a unique member template specifically designed for artists who want to maintain an online presence. The service lets the bands post songs and lyrics, tout their influences or who they sound like, and promote upcoming shows.
Some advertise coming events on MySpace through mass comments. Some comments are also meant to be passed on, creating something like a virus. But like in real life, watch out for viral karma.
Making Friends
Making friends on Myspace is also very important. It is important to be connected to all of your friends on MySpace, your comrades and the people you respect. Artists and musicians often seek to be friended on MySpace by as many people as possible.
Of course, a link does not necessarily mean a relationship or even an interest in getting to know the person. "Thanks for the add" is a common comment that you may write in reaction to being friended by interesting people on MySpace.
